VISAKHAPATNAM: A group of doctors from the city and Hyderabad, some working in King George Hospital, have set up a test-tube baby centre in the city. After the inauguration of Srushti Test Tube Baby Centre, its chief fertility consultant Namrata told reporters on Sunday that the rate of infertility was on the rise due to lifestyle pressures, pollution, late marriage and genetic reasons.

She said the hospital, which has branches in Hyderabad, Vijayawada and other places, had state-of-the-art facilities to give hope to those willing to have children after the age of 40 years.

She said they would focus on confidential counselling to infertile parents and their family elders. The centre would provide infertility treatments like laparoscopy, hysteroscopy, in-vitro fertilisation with oocyte donation. It had facilities for semen freezing, semen bank and donation, surrogacy, embryo preservation.

Dr. Namrata said success of test tube baby would vary from case to case and opined that couples, instead of blaming each other for failure to conceivem should immediately consult a specialist for appropriate guidance.
