Teenager dies of Burns in KGH, Junior doctor beaten by relatives

VISAKHAPATNAM: Junior doctors of King George Hospital and other teaching hospitals of Andhra Medical College gave a representation to Collector J. Syamala Rao on Saturday seeking protection for them while on duty.

The junior doctors protested on Thursday night and also on Friday after family members and relatives of a teenaged woman, who died due to burns while undergoing treatment at the Casualty Ward, abused and tried to beat up a junior doctor on duty. On Saturday, a large number of junior doctors met the Collector at his camp office and explained to him that attacks on them were on the rise and wanted the Government to provide them protection.

They also pointed out that it was not possible to provide the best care at the Government hospitals with inadequate facilities and infrastructure.
