Andhra Medical College Alumni Global Meet 2008 - a Grand Success
 

On a sunny Saturday December 27 and balmy Sunday December 28 ,2008 a total of 1500 Andhra Medical College Alumni form all continents of the World met in Visakhapatnam on the occasion of the 85th Anniversary of the founding of the Andhra Medical College as the First AMC Alumni Global Meet 2008 at the AMCOSA ( Andhra Medical College Old Students Association ) Platinum Jubilee auditorium. The Social part of the program included Old Batches meeting after a period of 40 Plus Years More attendees , about 75 % are above 50 years of age. The meeting of their batchmates was Both a Pleasant surprise to the eyes and a wholesome experience to the hearts and souls of the alumni . The Alumni gathered at the Gates of the King George Hospital and marched to their almamater the Rajah of Panagal Building of the Andhra Medical College where various batches had Group photos taken at the College Day Stage and also back at the AMCOSA Auditorium.


On the 27th evening at the Port Kalavani Auditorium the AMC Alumni Global Meet 2008 was formally inaugurated by the Oldest Student Attending Past Vice chancellor NTR Health University Dr Lingam Suryanarayana . The meeting started with the Jyothi Prajvalanam by Dr Suryanarayana and the Chief Guest Solicitor-General Mr Rajendra Raghuvamsi Singhji spoke on the cordial relationship between Medical & Legal Profession.drs KVGK Tilak & MS Raju welcomed the delegates to the meet. Drs AV Krishnam Raju , VC NTR Health University, Dr Bhagyarao, Principal AMC, Dr Somayajulu Superintendent KGH , Dr T Ravi Raju ADME, and R Ravi Kumar Art of Living Foundation also gave their messages. Dr s Rajagopal Nandyal President-elect AMCANA USA & Sriram Sonty , Treasurer AMCANA donated $ 20,000 for this meeting and AMC Activities and pledged $ 10,000 minimum per year for 5 Years coming while Drs Suryanrayana and another AMCOSA Member donated Rs 10,00,000 each . AMCOSA old students with 50 years of service were recognized and honored with a shawl.


From AMCANA Drs Kavitha Pinnamaneni , Dr Sridhar Chilimuri and Dr Rajagopal Nandyal donated $ 20,000, $ 10,000 & $ 5,000 respectively. Drs Uma & Bapanaiah Penugonda & Ramalakshmi Yerramilli Doanted $ 4,000 each and the 1964 Batch $ 5,500 towards a Guest Room in the AMCOSA Guest House. The Major Donation in the past had been $ 105,000 by Drs Annapurna & Jogi Pattisapu towards the Electronic Library in the Main Library while future donations will be used towards Electronic Libraries in the Men’s & Ladies Hostels. The Internal Medicine and Dr S Balaparameswara Rao Library in the Neurosurgey departments have already been in operation with donations from AMCANA , USA Members.


On Sunday morning 500 delegates attended the CME Program coordinated by Dr Ramamohanarao Kairam , Albert Einstein Medical School , The speakers were Drs Divakar Krishnareddy , Los Angeles ( Orthopedics), Radha Sarma USC Keck School of Medicine( Cardiology), Dr Rajagopal Nadyal Oklahoma School of Medicine ( Pediatrics), Krishnamohan Ganti, Florida ( ENT), R Muralikrishna Oklahoma City ( Psychiatry) & Ramamohanarao Kairam New York ( Autism) . The CME Program was well received by the delegates local and from abroad. AMCANA honored Drs Sreenivasa Moorthy ( Named Lecture ) , Sridhar Chilimuri & Radha Sarma for Academic Contributions in USA, Major Donors Drs Annapurna & Jogi Pattisapu, Kavitha Pinnamaneni, Uma & Bapanaiah Penugonda, Ramalakshmi Yerramilli, Satyavardhanarao Yerubandi & Rajagopal Nandyal ; Past Presidents Drs JVS Subbarao, Tryambaka Sarma, Gude Modhi,Venkat Rao Emandi, KV Rao, Sriram Sonty & Ramamaohanaro Kairam for service to AMCANA & Drs Gavarasana Satyanarayana , Mangaraju Kolluru & Sudhakarababu Bangaru for Community Service. The Past Presidents nnot in attendance Drs G Dasaratharama Reddy and Subbarao Cherukuri will be honored at the Chicago TANA Convention in July 2009 per Dr. Sriram Sonty.


At the Validectory Function Drs SV Adinarayanarao, S. Balaparameswara Rao, KVGK Tilak, MS Raju, Uma Penugonda , Ramamohanarao Kairam & Gavarasana Satyanarayana expressed their enthusiasm and appreciation towards the meeting and all the delegates left Visakhapatnam with reminisiences , fond memories and feelings of gratitude towards their almamater Andhra Medical College and the Teachers from whom they received their education and training.
