President’s Appeal
| |
Dear Fellow Alumni of AMCANA,
| |
Traditionally AMCANA attempted to gather AMC Alumni during the TANA meetings. Although the attendance was not high, the meeting served at least as a social gathering and allowing alumni to catch up. This meeting has not been successful as a fund raising event for AMCANA activities, generally.
| |
During the past year however we have been successful in generating some enthusiasm and support for our almamater.Since the last TANA meeting in San Jose we have been successful in raising nearly $75,000 (although $55,000 came from a single donor – Drs. Jogi & Annapurna Pattisapu of Orlando FL).
| |
During my trip to AMC we pledged to maintain and enlarge the Electronic Access library in the AMC library building. Dr. Peda Veerraju, professor of medicine and head of Gastroenterology and his associate Dr. Muralikrishna have been instrumental in establishing and equipping the computer access room.
| |
During Sonty Sriram’s trip, last December he was able to enlist support from more senior staff and officers of KGH trust to help further our mission. He was also present during the rededication of AMCANA supported library which received a funding boost from the Pattisapu family.
| |
As I return to AMC in December- 2005 (During the NEUROCON – ’05) and several alumni gatherings I hope to establish a long term project involving the following:
| |
1. Air conditioning the Library Building securing backup generator, maintenance contract for the same.
2. Expanding Electronic Access to at least 15 work stations, scanner, printer, color printer facilities.
3. Audiovisual Equipment, Laptops for Power Point presentation, LCD projectors.
4. Beautification / Landscaping of the area around the library, planting of some evergreens and shade trees.
5. Building a Scooter / Motorcycle shed with permanent roof, immediately in front of the library building.
6. Establishing secure reserve funding for maintaining minimum of 15 Indian and 15 foreign journals, at least for the next four years.
7. Stocking a minimum of 200 current text books (latest editions).
| |
The approximate budget for this 5 year projection is $150,000. It leaves us with a goal of raising an additional $75,000 before my term as president expires. I will be calling each one of you directly to solicit your generous support. At the TANA meeting in Detroit we will have a separate meeting to discuss the scope of this effort and seek additional suggestions /recommendations. I also look forward to any advice on how to meet this goal of additional funds before the end of 2005.
| |
Thank you,
| |
Look forward to seeing you in Detroit. Please give me a call (914-738-6236) or drop me a note at Rkairam@gmail.com.
